Stiefel Laboratories was established in 1847 and is proud to have innovated many significant dermatological firsts along the way

(Early Box of Stiefel Laboratories Soap) 1847 - John D. Stiefel founds the J.D. Stiefel Company and, in collaboration with early dermatologists, pioneers innovations in the commercial methods of adding medicinal active ingredients to soap bars.
(World Map) 1880's - Stiefel Laboratories becomes the first dermatology specialty company to begin worldwide export of its products.
(Statue of Liberty) 1910 - August C. Stiefel moves to New York City and opens the first Stiefel Laboratories office in the United States.
(Oilatum® Box) 1948 - The introduction of the Oilatum® family of products for localized lesions or full body treatment of dry skin, atopic dermatitis and eczema.
(Polytar® Shampoo) 1960 - The introduction of Polytar® - the first combination of tars in a shampoo that provides effective treatment for all of the most prevalent scalp conditions, including psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, and itching.
(Brasivol® Tube) 1965 - Brasivol® (exfoliating facial cleanser and conditioner) becomes Stiefel's first million dollar a year product.
(Sulfoxyl® Bottle) 1966 - The introduction of the first benzoyl peroxide product for acne (Sulfoxyl® lotion).
(PanOxyl® Tube) 1972 -The first gel form of benzoyl peroxide is launched under the name PanOxyl®.
(Duofilm® Box) 1975 - The introduction of Duofilm® - the first prescription treatment for warts.
(Stiefel Logo) 1985 - Stiefel Laboratories' skin care products are available to customers in over 50 countries for the first time.
(Brevoxyl® Tube) 1991 - Brevoxyl®/Solugel® is launched as the first benzoyl peroxide product containing dimethyl isosorbide to dissolve the benzoyl peroxide crystals and reduce irritation.

(Glades Pharmaceuticals Logo) 1991 - Stiefel Laboratories founds Glades Pharmaceuticals to market generic dermatology products. Glades Pharmaceuticals later matures to market a full line of products including branded-generic and branded products.
(Stiefel Laboratories Product Family) 1991 - For the first time, Stiefel Laboratories' products become available to dermatology patients in over 100 countries.
(Isotrex® Tube) 1992 - Isotrex® Gel is introduced as the world's first topical isotretinoin product.
(Physiogel® Bottle) 2000 - The introduction of Physiogel® - the first family of "skin repair" products based on natural lipid, emulsifier-free repair technology.
(Duac® Tube) 2000 - Stiefel Laboratories receives the world's first government approval to market a combination of benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin. This gel is now marketed under the names Duac®, Clindoxyl®, and Indoxyl® in different countries and prescribed for once-a-day usage in the treatment of acne.

(Rosac® Tube) 2002 - Stiefel Laboratories launches Rosac® - the first prescription rosacea treatment in the United States with built-in sunscreens to help protect from the most common trigger of rosacea flare-ups: the sun.
